Tips + Best Practices
- Our interviews are collaborative by design. We encourage asking clarification questions. Make sure you understand the questions or problem at the onset.
- In general, we'd like to hear about fewer things but in more detail. We want to hear about the details of the challenges you've encountered and what exactly you did. Avoid giving "whirlwind tours" that touch on a lot of areas but only superficially or talking about your team or company in a way that makes it hard to ascertain your personal contribution.
- It's helpful for us to hear about outcomes and impact and not just inputs.
We want everyone who interviews with us to feel set up for success. Please reach out if you have questions!

🧰 Technical Interview (Backend Coding Interview)
In this 60 minute session, you’ll interview with a Notion engineer to build a solution to a real world problem. You should expect to run your code and test it in this timeframe.
Additional Prep: Technical Screen Preparation
🏡 Virtual Onsite Interviews
This round will consist of the following 4 interviews:
- Career History & Experience Interview
- A non-technical career history interview to understand your experience more in-depth, your biggest achievements, challenges, and how you worked with others on teams. It's helpful to review highlights and lowlights of each major role you've held, achievements and challenges through your career, the people you worked with and who your manager was. You may find it helpful to review how your past teams operated and how you collaborated with others. Consider how you interacted with fellow engineers, product managers, engineering managers, designers, etc.
